In the past months many people have been asking us about our album cover wanting to know more about the image . The contortionist image is actually a painting created by Montreal artists known as MTAF (Krista Bursey and Jason Wasserman). This 48″x 36″ painting was inspired by the song Mend. This contortionist represents Elsieanne’s vocal melodies, it’s what they called a Vocal contortion.

For us this work symbolizes and evokes many key elements that coincide with the music; the connection to the human body and soul, anxiety and paranoia as well as a discomforting beauty.

We would like to invite you to be part of the elsiane community by sharing with us any interesting art or painter that you admire. If you’re an artist we invite you to share your art with us. We are always looking out for interesting and new artists.

Everyone that will participate will enter into a draw to win a pair of tickets to come to our next show on Nov 9th at Le Savoy in Montreal. For those who will participate outside Montreal, you will enter a draw to win a signed copy of our record!

Alex Grey is an artist that has been an inspiration to us for many years. After seeing his works in books, reproductions and the internet we were lucky enough to finally get the chance to visit the ” COSM Chapel of the Sacred Mirrors” in New York last week. Examining the life size paintings cannot be expressed in words only in a language that speaks to the soul. The psychedelic realism of his paintings is truly one of the highest forms of art ever experienced. We recommend taking the journey to visit these exquisite masterpieces while you are still alive!!

Elsiane is a project that believes strongly in the power of visual arts, they have been able to work with artists “MTAF” who have connected with the themes presented in the album, and through their own vision they have been able to translate and transcend their medium into not only the album artwork but into the visual experience of Elsiane’s live show.
